We are a unique, non-profit organization committed to supporting and revitalizing dance through education, encouragement and assistance, providing young dancers the opportunity to further their dance training.
With your support, the VBS can increase financial awards to dance students. Every year dozens of students receive scholarships towards more dance training.
We offer inclusive classes with some of the most prominent dance artists from companies in Canada and abroad.
As of January 2024, Dance International Online ceased publication. All of Dance International‘s digital material is fully archived on this website.
We educate thousands of students, many who have gone on to become professional dancers, choreographers, dance educators, and artistic directors.
Through dance education, we offer opportunities for young people to engage with professionals from around the world.
Join international teachers for a week of advanced training in Ballet and Contemporary dance. Scholarship awards opportunity.
Support local youth with an elegant evening of entertainment, light refreshments and a silent auction.
Through your support we can make a difference in a young dancer’s life.
Ashley Coupal, a 2021 Prix de Lausanne winner, and multi VBS scholarship winner writes: “I am so blessed to have received VBS support from an early age. The organization “will always have a special place in my heart for helping me develop as a ballerina”.

In my student days, I felt fortunate that VBS provided exposure to internationally renowned teachers through Spring Seminar. The scholarships that I won there helped to pay for extra training and the audition tour that led me to the National Ballet of Canada.

Growing up in Vancouver, participating in every VBS Master Class and Spring Seminar remains as a true highlight of my young dance education as it opened so many doors giving me the opportunity to work directly with legendary artists and gave me insight into so many different and diverse ways of training, education”

My name is Kyra Soo, a previous VBS scholarship winner (2015-18). I am currently a professional dancer with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet. It was through VBS’ Master Classes, workshops (Spring Seminar) and scholarships that I was able to attend many competitions and intensives that furthered my training.
Creating a well-connected community that is able to invite internationally acclaimed dance educators keeps Vancouver on the map as a hub for dance and the Vancouver Ballet Society has been an integral part to fostering this collaboration.
Thank you VBS for your years of support!
